The Women With Promise Scholarship Program offers support for full or part-time students from Dallas and Collin counties looking to begin or restart their college degree journey. Applications are taken on a rolling basis and awarded to assist with tuition, books, and fees.
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be accepted into an accredited course of study at an accredited institution
- Demonstrate a need for financial assistance
- Exhibit a strong desire, ability, and determination to complete the academic course
- Partner with a non-profit organization or social agency for at least six months
- Have a sponsor within the organization/agency that is willing to provide mentoring support for the student throughout her educational experience
- Reside in Dallas or Collin County
- Is a citizen or permanent legal resident of the U.S. or has immigration status which makes her eligible for FAFSA
Award Amount: Scholarship awards range from $250 to $5000.
2. Lifetime Adoption Foundation Scholarship
The Lifetime Adoption Foundation Scholarship presents deserving applicants with scholarships for higher-education endeavors. While recognizing that adoption is hard, the foundation honors birth parents who have enabled others to experience the joy of parenthood.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must apply for the scholarship
- Must show proof of part-time or full-time enrollment
- Must be drug-free
- Have a current C average or higher
- Should be a birth mother that placed a child for adoption after 1990
- Must write a 400-word essay

3. The Adoption Network Law Center Scholarship Program
The Adoption Network Law Center awards up to $10,000 in scholarships to birth parents and adoptees every year. The scholarship began to give back to the adoption community and support those interested in higher education.

5. The Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation Scholarship
The Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation was established in 2003. The first woman of color elected to the US House of Representatives, Patsy Mink worked tirelessly for civil rights, women’s rights, economic justice, civil liberties, peace, and the integrity of the democratic process.
In 2020, the foundation awarded five scholarships to women with minor children to carry on some of Mink’s most passionate commitments: educational access, opportunity and equity for low-income women, especially mothers.

- Must be a woman, at least 17 years of age
- Must be a mother with minor children
- Must be pursuing a first vocational degree or certificate, a first associate’s degree, a first bachelor’s degree, or a first professional/master’s/doctoral degree.
- Must be enrolled in a not-for-profit, accredited institution, or program in the U.S.
- Must be low-income
